Low-speed wind tunnel facility (NWK2)

The NWK2, built in 1985, is an open return wind tunnel designed in the traditional Eiffel configuration. Its original purpose was to develop new measurement techniques and calibrate sensors. It is now also being used for research projects, whenever small model dimensions are permissible.

An electrical motor with a power of 20 kW drives the fan, which is located in the diffuser behind the test section. The contraction has an area ratio of 24:1, allowing for a maximum flow speed in the test section of 68 m/s. The fan speed is controlled by the stagnation pressure in the tunnel.
