Drag and Circulation Control

The Young Researcher Group Drag and Circulation Control is part of the excellence cluster Smart Interfaces and is embedded in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

We are directly linked to the Emmy Noether Research Group Viscous Flow Control.

Our research focuses on the active or passive manipulation of the velocity field in the near-wall region to achieve benefits in drag and/or circulation. These benefits are considered fundamental in technologies that are of immense economic importance to a wide variety of applications throughout the entire engineering spectrum.

Our research interests include:

- control of laminar to turbulent transition

- flow control with plasma actuators

- drag reduction in turbulent flows

- fluid structure interaction
