ADP: “Design and verification of a measuring system for flight trajectories of general aviation aircraft”

Mid-air collisions are exceedingly rare in instrument flight rules (IFR) operations. However, in visual flight rules operations collisions are more common. During the past years, a multitude of systems has become commercially available which are to assist the pilot in the task of collision avoidance. The Institute of Flight Systems and Automatic Control plans an experimental analysis of human-machine-interfaces of these novel collision avoidance systems in its flight simulator. For this task it is necessary to provide the simulator with realistic trajectories of conflicting air traffic in the framework of a traffic scenario. go

Oldest detection of blood at the Iceman

3 dimensional picture of a atomic force micropscope of a red blood cell out of the back wound of the Iceman.

5300 year old red blood cells discovered at the Iceman

His DNA has already been sequenced, samples out of his stomach and intestine show details about his last meal. Providing evidence of blood traces however, has had no success so far. By using nanotechnological methods researchers of the Center of Smart Interfaces (CSI) and the European Academy of Bozen (EURAC) have discovered red blood cells at the wounds of the Iceman. This detection of the 5300 year old blood cells is unique in modern research. go
