Dieter Bothe is Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Head of the research area Mathematical Modeling and Analysis at the Center of Smart Interfaces at Technical University of Darmstadt. He studied mathematics and physics at the University of Paderborn, where he graduated in 1993 and obtained his habilitation in the area of Nonlinear Evolutions and Reaction-Diffusion Systems in 2000. From 1999 to 2005 he was assistant / associate professor at the Institute for Chemical Engineering at the University of Paderborn, where he was head of the group „Modelling, Analysis and Simulation of Multiphase Flows“. From 2005 to 2009 he held the Chair for Mathematics/CCES at the department of mathematics, RWTH Aachen University, from 2006 he was Co-Director of the Center for Computational Engineering Science there until he accepted a research professorship at the Center of Smart Interfaces in 2009. Dieter Bothe is an appointed member of the ProcessNet technical committees „Multiphase Flow” and “Computational Fluid Dynamics„. He is on the editorial advisory board of the “International Journal of Multiphase Flow” and associated editor of the international journal “Nonlinear Analysis: Real World Applications”. Dieter Bothe is also coordinator of the Priority Programme SPP 1506 “Transport processes at fluid interfaces„ of the German Science Foundation (DFG). His research concerns nonlinear evolution equations, reaction-diffusion systems and transport processes in two phase flows, where he combines modeling with mathematical analysis and numerical simulations to analyze, describe and understand more deeply processes in the Natural and Engineering Sciences.
